Following a staggering number of public votes, the finalists for the highly anticipated Multicultural INSPIRE Awards have now been announced. Thousands across the country picked their winners, resulting in a final shortlist that shines a well-deserved light on the nation’s most inspirational people.
After receiving applications in the thousands for the categories, the public has chosen its finalists; among these are the 12 victors who will be crowned at a glitzy ceremony in November, celebrating those who have gone above and beyond in the corporate world and local communities.
This year’s awards, sponsored by Arden University and e.on, boast categories specially devoted to highlighting those young people who are making a difference and those who work in senior leadership. The ‘Rising Star’ award is designed to highlight those young people who have made a significant impact in their industries and continue to inspire others. The ‘Outstanding Contribution to Leadership’ award has been introduced to celebrate those who excel in their roles and demonstrate exceptional leadership.
Dr Tru Powell, a multi-award-winning entrepreneur himself, heads up the INSPIRE awards and has been overwhelmed by the number of votes cast in the first year. He commented:
“I am completely blown away by the amount of nominations and votes we have received in the first year. The UK really voted to choose their winners. The calibre of nominations has been extremely high and I know the judges have a difficult task ahead.
“The categories that we have for this year’s awards are those we felt were necessary, shining a light on inspiring people in the UK. These awards were created to focus on the people who make a real difference within their communities; so I hope that these categories will aid us in celebrating these inspiring individuals”.
The next stage will see the Inspire Awards’ expert judging panel of entrepreneurs, community leaders, and household names decide the winners across all categories. This year’s line-up features Cambridge University Professor Jason Arday, international speaker and author Simon Alexander Ong, and influencer and mental health advocate Luke Vernon. They will be joined by cultural icons including singer and TV personality Jamelia, BBC executive Faron McKenzie, Ammo Talwar MBE of Punch Records, and Brenda Edwards from the Self Belief Trust. Business leaders such as Shaa Wasmund MBE, Paul Faulkner, David Atkinson, and the Forbes Family Group also bring their expertise, alongside diversity and inclusion champions Annisha Taylor, Melissa Berry, Sheetal, and Gurpri Bains. Completing the panel are inspirational community voices Safiyya Vorajee of The Azaylia Foundation, cancer advocate Ameena Westwood, entrepreneur Frankie James, and Dr Zaheer Ahmed MBE, ensuring every nomination is judged with integrity, care, and vision.,
“With so many incredible finalists, we certainly have a tough decision to make this year! I’m really looking forward to reading all the finalists’ applications, and celebrating with them at the INSPIRE Awards in November,” Judge, Jamelia concluded.
